Avenue of Crushers - Interview with Cezarus9

Welcome to Avenue of Crushers - the series of interviews with players whose successes are admirable!

We have a new star on our avenue:

 Cezarus9

from €10s player to the €500s crusher in 17 months

Your journey with us has started at the beginning of 2020 from 10s.  Now, you are not only a €500s player but also a new Smart Spin coach. How do you feel about that?
Cezarus9: It's nice to see how all the hard work is paying off :)

How has your lifestyle changed since you became a poker pro?
Cezarus9Well, before poker I worked in nightlife. Then during summers, I did seasonal work on some Greek island as a club promoter. It was very fun, but I was very unorganized so my life was a mess :) After some years I couldn't imagine living like that anymore, so it was time to figure out a new way.

Right now, especially in the last year, it's quite different. I do a lot of sports, take care of my diet, meditate, take cold showers, almost never drink, and of course, spend a lot of time for poker.

Yes I know, it is a crazy change :)

It’s not a secret that you are one of the youngest and most successful Spin & Go players. What in your opinion is the key to success?
Cezarus9: In my opinion, there is nothing more important than discipline, hard work, and perseverance. It is a difficult path, so there will come periods of time which will be mentally very tough. It is crucial to work even harder during these times, believe in yourself, and never give up.

How does your study routine look like? What kind of advice can you give to other players?
Cezarus9There are a few different things I do in order to improve. I watch all new videos that are uploaded in the Smart Spin library and attend High Stakes group meetings. When it comes to more detailed studying I really like the idea of marking every single hand that I wasn't 100% sure what to do or hands where I feel like I made a mistake. The next day I will review these hands and go over them 2, 3, sometimes even 5 times (especially the ones where I made a mistake). In my opinion, it is a great way to build game understanding and minimize the number of mistakes and learn from them.

Then I also work with GTObase and read some psychological books in order to improve my mindset.

You were a captain of the Smart League team “Bad Bunnys”. Do you think this experience will help in your new role as a coach?
Cezarus9: It will definitely help as I could ‘practice’ 1on1 coachings with my teammates.
I am really looking forward to it!

The best piece of advice you can give to someone just starting with the game?
Cezarus9:
Playing poker professionally is the best job in the world! With the correct approach, mindset, and work ethic you shouldn't worry too much. Be consistent and let the time do its thing.

And don't be that “get rich quick” guy, they don't last long in this game :)

What’s your biggest dream when it comes to poker?
Cezarus9:
In the future, I would like to spend some time living and playing in a country with a better climate. I hate winters.

When it comes to poker, I don't like talking about goals. I believe it reduces the chance of achieving them :)
